MechMayhem – Robotics competition

Hands-on robotics. Real industry exposure. Run by students, for students.

MechMayhem is a full-day, BattleBot-style robotics competition for high school students, run during World Space Week.

Teams design and build their own robots, then compete in a head-to-head tournament.

Overview

  • What: Robot combat competition + World Space Week outreach event
  • Who: Open to high school teams, industry guests, students, and the public to spectate
  • When: 11 October 2025
  • Where: (TBC) / QUT Gardens Point, O Block, Level 1
  • Run By: QUT Aerospace Society, in collaboration with UQ MARS and QUT CESS
  • Supported By: Southern Cross Space

What’s Involved

  • Robot Design & Build: Teams build self-funded battle robots
  • Workshops: Competition Introduction, Technical and Teamwork Skills
  • Mentorship: Gain perspective on Real World Careers and Companies
  • Public Showcase: Industry guests and general public are invited to attend
